This is a very quiet, relaxing weekend!
On Thursday evening I met an old friend for coffee and we had a very long chat. On Friday I did some studying for my course and in the evening I went shopping. I bought some black trousers and a cream top.
I thought about going to Sharjah to look around around museums on Saturday, but I didn't want to drive for 5 hours on the Emirates Road, so I stayed at home! I did a lot of work on the computer: wrote emails, made photo albums and read my students' blogs!

Oh dear - I am really exhausted!
Two friends from England arrived last Saturday to stay with me for a week, so I have been juggling work and play all week. Fortunately my friends have visited Abu Dhabi before so they know the city and they can always find things to do - or to buy... they love shopping!
On Sunday after work I drove them to Dubai to the Tennis Championships. That was fun but we didn't see any famous players. We went out to eat and shop on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. On Thursday, we went to the exhibition at the Emirates Palace and had tea there, too. Then we went to Abu
Dhabi Mall and did some more shopping.
On Friday I drove to Dubai. First we went to Bedayer because they wanted to see some sand dunes. We didn't try the quad bikes, but maybe I will do that next time my daughter comes to stay! Then we went to Dubai Mall. We walked around it and also took some photos of the Burj Dubai. After that I drove to Palm Island and we went into the Atlantis Mall and The Lost Chambers. I was a bit disappointed with The Lost Chambers because there was no information about the fish and the area seemed very small. Anyway, it was a good day out, but very tiring.
This morning my friends went to the gold souk and spent loads of money - and then I took them to the airport.
We had a lovely time together and I am so happy that they came to visit me.

Last Friday was a busy day because I had to get ready for the arrival of 2 friends from the UK. I tidied my house and went shopping.
Early on Saturday morning I went to the airport to collect my friends. I was very happy to see them. I have known them a long time because we worked in Saudi Arabia together many years ago. One of them has visited me here three times before and the other one has been here once before.
In the afternoon I showed them around Abu Dhabi because it had changed since their last visit. We looked at the new parks on the Corniche, the new houses at the back of the Marina Mall, and then we went to the Wadha Mall, which was very noisy.

When I got home on Thursday I was very tired, so I decided to have a relaxing evening. I stayed at home, ordered some Chinese food and watched TV, surfed the net and listened to music.
On Friday I drove to Al Ain to see some friends. I hadn't been to Al Ain for a few months so my friends showed me some new places there like the renovated Jahili Fort, the changes to the big park, the Souq Al Zafrani and also the desert area where all the Emirati youths (my students probably) have driving, drifting and
quad-bike competitions. In the evening we went to the Italian restaurant at the InterCon for dinner.
On Saturday I went to the dentist for a check-up. I am very scared of the dentist, but I know I must have regular appointments. Afterwards, I drove back to Abu Dhabi.
It was a pleasant weekend.

It's the end of the first week of the semester. One down and nineteen to go!
I have had a crazy week because I had several days when I started at 8:00 and didn't finish till 6.30 pm. One day I had my first class at 4:30 pm! Anyway, next week I am starting a new schedule where most of my classes will be in the mornings. I am happy about that, but it means I have to get up early every day!
